Biographies

The Yanceyville Town Council, in its legislative role, adopts all ordinances and resolutions and establishes the general policies of the Town. The Town Council also appoints a Town Manager to act as administrative head for the Town. He serves at the pleasure of the Council, carries out policies, directs business procedures, and serves as Personnel Manager. He also serves as budget officer and oversees the preparation and submittal of the annual budgets and the administration of the budgets, advises the Council on the affairs of the Town, handles citizen's complaints, maintains all personnel records, enforces the Town Charter and laws of the Town, and directs and supervises all departments.

Curtis E. Davis, Mayor
Curtis E. Davis, Mayor
Mr. Davis retired volunteer fireman with 29 years of service, retired from Thomas Brothers Oil & Gas after 38 years. Elected to Sanitary District Board in 1979. Served as Chairman to the Board from 1981 until Yanceyville's incorporation in July 1986. Upon incorporation he became the First Mayor of the Town and remained in that position through 1999. Currently serving on the E911 Board of Directors and Farmer Lake Board. Mayor Davis has been married to Peggy Davis for 47 years and they have one son named, James.
Margie Badgett-Lampkin - Mayor-Pro-Tem
Ms. Badgett-Lampkin is a life-long resident of Yanceyville and has served on the Town Council since December 2001. She currently serves as Mayor Pro-Tem. She is a veteran teacher of 27 years, a mother, and a grandmother. Her concern for the citizens she serves is her number one priority on the Yanceyville Town Council.

Alvin Foster
Mr. Foster is 48 years old and a life-long resident of Yanceyville. He is married to Carol N. Foster and has two sons. Currently retired, he was the Automotive Technology Instructor in the Caswell County School System for 19 years and served as head baseball coach at Bartlett Yancey High School. His purpose on town council remains unchanged since he began serving 22 years ago, to make Yanceyville a more desirable place to live with jobs that will enable our children to return home if they wish.
Fred A. Smith

Fred A. Smith
Mr. Smith was elected to the Town Council in December 2007. He had previously served on the council from 1999 to 2003. He is also former president and secretary of the Yanceyville Rotary Club, Caswell County Chamber of Commerce, and presently serves on the Caswell County Senior Center Board. A former US Marine who served in Vietnam and a Purple Heart veteran. Mr. Smith retired as postmaster of Yanceyville after 37 years of service. He is married to the former Sallie Gibson for almost 40 years and has two sons. His work on Town Council will be for lower taxes, sound decisions that affect our town now and well into the future. With forward thinking we can make and keep Yanceyville a place to grow and live. When we as a group (town council) meet we must think of all in our town and what is best for the future.

W. Ray McGuire

Mr. McGuire is a life-long resident of Yanceyville. He and his wife Ann have three children and seven grandchildren. He served with the Yanceyville Fire Department for 20 years and retired from the Caswell County Prison Department after 23 years of service. He has operated R & M Garage in Yanceyville for the past 21 years. He was elected to Town Council in 2005. His goals are to improve services that the town provides and to lower taxes.
